OGDEN - Newly elected Council members Dave Graf and Shaun Myers along with reelected Council member Richard A. Hyer took the oath of office on Tuesday, January 2.
Graf now represents District 4 on the Council, a seat occupied by former Council member and now newly elected Mayor Benjamin K. Nadolski, who was also sworn in.
"Thank you to my Council members and peers for your support and friendship," Mayor Nadolski said. "Thank you to the community for your support, faith, and trust in me not only as a Council member but now as your mayor."
Nadolski leaves the Council after two terms, having been first elected in 2015. The Weber State alumnus succeeds Michael P. Caldwell as mayor, who served for three terms since 2012.
Before being sworn in to represent District Four on the Council, Graf served Ogden City as a Planning Commissioner since 2016.
"It's an honor for me to represent the city of Ogden," Graf said. "I'm very grateful for the trust that my supporters and the members of District Four place in me to represent them in everything. I believe that Ogden is standing in the doorway of the next great phase in its storied history."
Myers was elected to the Council to take the At-Large C seat, which was previously held by Luis Lopez who chose not to run for reelection after two terms.
"I'd like to thank my fellow Council members and Mayor Caldwell for their service to Ogden," Lopez said, "It's genuinely been the greatest honor of my life serving with each and every single one of you. To the citizens of Ogden, thank you for the trust you placed in me to represent and serve you."
Myers has served on the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce as both a member and chair.
"It's a great honor for me to be here with these good people and have the opportunity to serve and represent our city," he said. "I can't tell you how impressed I am with how the city runs. I come in hoping to be a factor in making things happen a little better, with a little more vision, with a little more hope."
First elected in 2011, Council member Hyer ran unopposed in 2023 and now begins his fourth term on the Council.
"We're here to defend the constitutions of the State of Utah and the United States as we serve our compatriots and our citizens," he said. "I look forward to continuing to serve you. I really do want to know what citizens want and what they think is best for our city."
