[ARCHIVED] Valley Glass Recognized by Ogden-Weber Chamber as Small Business of the Year

Mark Naylor and SOnny Thompson

There’s a reason Valley Glass has been in business since 1956—they’re not solely in the business of glass, but customer service. Sonny Thompson has been a part of this Ogden staple for more than 50 years, since he was a young kid sweeping up the floors for owner Jerry Naylor. Since then, Valley Glass, headquartered on 2041 Lincoln Avenue, has expanded to multiple locations in Salt Lake City, Layton, Boise, and Idaho Falls. “We are polite, pleasant, have manners and don’t get our fingerprints all over the customer’s walls,” explains Thompson. Sonny is easy to spot in his Valley Glass pickup truck, visiting sites throughout northern Utah, checking on customers, making sure the job is done right. Thompson, Sanders and Sawyer with Ogden City

Awarded Small Business of the Year from the Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce this year, Valley Glass is now run by Jerry’s son, Mark Naylor.  A full-service glass company, Vally Glass actually started out replacing auto windshields 68 years ago, adding more services through the decades.  You can find their work on local buildings like the Weber Center, Ogden Regional Hospital and the Utah Department of Transportation storage facility in Cache County’s Sardine Canyon. Valley Glass also makes custom orders for all homes, including historic buildings needing specific materials for restoration.

Ogden City Business Development toured the newly restored corporate offices on Lincoln Avenue finding modern touches of glass walls and sliding glass doors paired with old wood beams and red brick. Valley Glass is adding their touch to new buildings throughout Weber County. Thompson says, “This is going to be a big year for us. There’s a lot happening here at Valley Glass.”
