What are Invasive Trees?

Invasive tress are fast-growing non-native species that spread aggressively, outcompete native plants, and can damage ecosystems.

Why it Matters:

  • They crowd out our beloved cottonwoods, oaks, and willows.
  • They reduce food and habitat for birds, pollinators, and wildlife.
  • Their roots break sidewalks, invade irrigation lines, and cause property damage.
  • Removal is harder (and more expensive) once they mature.

  1. Siberian Elm
  2. Tree Of Heaven
  3. Russian Olive

Look For: Small Serrated leaves, messy brittle branches, and tons of round seed pods in spring.

Why it's a problem: Weak wood prone to breaking in windstorms, seeds sprout everywhere (lawns, gutters, gardens), choking out native trees.
